Change

Big changes are ahead. After ten years living in the USA we are in the midst of repatriation planning. January 2023 we will return home to Australia for good! 

Our Parker, Colorado house is on the market.

It took us six months to prepare for this, lots of things had to happen:

• Decluttering and organizing of our belongings
• Gave away tons of excess stuff on Facebook Marketplace
• Weekly Goodwill/ARC donations
• Minor house repairs and improvements to prepare it for sale
• Australian import permits for our dogs
• Self-packing treasured belongings such as my antique Pyrex collection (we began in March 2022 and completed the task in August 2022)

September 8th our shipping container arrived at the house at about 9am:

And at about 4pm they finished loading:

All of our beloved belongings fitted (except a set of IKEA Billy Bookcases which we easily gave away on FB Marketplace).

It was so exciting to see them drive away at the end of the day. The container goes by rail to Seattle now and then it'll be a couple of weeks there before it's loaded on a ship and then it's taken via Taiwan and Singapore to it's destination at the Port of Fremantle in Perth Western Australia. 

So it'll take a couple of months to get to Australia. We are living in a temporary apartment in Denver for now whilst we wait for our belongings to arrive in Perth. This is the living room of our one bedroom apartment:

It's furnished sparsely with items we sacrificed from the house before the shipping container came. We're just sleeping on a couple of foam twin mattresses on the floor until January:
