It's been a Whirlwind!

We landed in Australia a couple of weeks ago, you can see the elation on my face as we embarked on that final journey to our homeland after living in the USA for ten years.

Once we landed in Brisbane we headed to Noosa to spend a few days with hubby Matt's family. We walked on the beach and enjoyed the company of family.

Then we flew to our final destination Perth. We camped on the floor on a mattress from IKEA the first few days until our shipping containers of belongings were delivered:

That was over a week ago and I've been busy unpacking ever since.
I'm working on unpacking my antique Pyrex collection this week, which is an epic task but will free up space in our living room!
Each display is coming together slowly, my pink, white, brown display is almost complete:
The blues are coming together:
The pastel yellow is also nearly complete:
I'm loving having a clothesline again and drying our stuff in the Aussie sunshine!
We've hung most of the wall decor just to get it out of the way 😂 I've placed some of my amber glass collection on a wall shelf where it can catch the light.

Hubby Matt is back to working from home and the vast majority of my time is spent unpacking boxes and organizing personal belongings. We also have a new puppy we picked up on our first day in Perth, so we're wrangling and playing with a puppy amongst all this busy-ness.

Henry and Zoe are settling into their new life after their 10 days in quarantine.
Their safe arrival was very exciting and such a relief.

So what's next?

  • New flooring in the lounge room, sewing studio and master bedroom
  • New blinds for all the windows
So I can't set the place up properly until that work is done later in February, so everything still feels very haphazard and temporary at the moment. Then we'll set up those rooms properly before flooring is replaced in the two bedrooms that will be our home gym and spare bedroom.

What's left after that...

  • Tidying up the garden which really needs a good trim back and refresh as well as some raised veggie patches added.
  • Buying a caged box trailer to make it easier to take several loads of trash, garden clippings and discarded built-in desk to the tip/trash dump
