Mid Century Styling
Modern Mid Century styling is a perfect blend of old and new. Let's face it any era has it's gawdy homewares and decor. Much of the gawdiness in the mid 20th century was in textiles. Ugly fabrics, carpets etc.
What mid century stuff was timeless?
- Wood furniture (angled legs, dovetail joints, smooth uncluttered styles)
- Quality kitchenware (Pyrex, Catherine Holm, etc)
- Glassware (genie bottles, Amber glass, etc)
- Drinkware (displaying mid century glassware on a bar cart is a great eye catching way to feature it)
So keep your eye out in thrift stores for mid century items to incorporate into your space.
I recently saw these fabulous red apple cannisters:
I couldn't buy them because our shipping container is already on its way to Australia but they were totally fabulous! A real statement piece that would display amazingly, especially if you have open shelving in a kitchen.
