October Decor!

Things make a house a home. That's pretty much the heart of maximalist decor philosophy. And I'm a maximalist through and through.

We're currently in limbo between houses and living in a temporary apartment for 4+ months as we sell our Colorado house and prepare to move back to Australia. We've sparsely furnished this one bedroom apartment with sacrificial furniture we didn't want to send to Australia in our shipping container.

We also kept our Halloween decor here in the USA because in November we'll give it to our son and son in-law who will continue to live in Colorado.

So today we pulled it out of the closet and began to decorate our apartment. We started with making the TV table a Halloween dog cavern:

That neat but boring folding wood table seemed bland after living maximalist decor for 7 years in our Colorado house.  Three paper lanterns, a couple of skeletons and a cute plush blanket I bought at Walmart recently for about $10 completed the transformation and Zoe our Dachshund x Yorkie seemed thrilled!!!

It immediately felt more like home! For all of us.

So I'm pleased I kept these decorations handy for October!

I'll definitely think about what cheap and cheery Dollar Tree or thrift store decor I can add through November and December to make this bland apartment feel a little more homely.
